Botanical name: Pinus thunbergii

This is an extraordinary pine with bright white, large, extended buds that show well in winter. White buds above heavy, dense, dark green needles. Can grow to 6 ft in 10 years. Each branch is covered with densly packed, dark green needles and crowned in winter with large silver white candles. The candles are as attractive as flowers, and their striking contrast with the foliage is visible over a long distance. Tight, low, mounding habit. Worthy bonsai specimen. Hardy.
